You’re in your kitchen, jamming to your favorite song, but every single time you’re about to hit that high note…”music pauses”…again…and again. Maybe it’s the wifi? Nope, that’s working fine. Or maybe it’s the Nest Home Hub?
Worry not! this guide will help you troubleshoot and fix all playback-related problems on your Google Home Nest Hub.
Solution 1: Turn off Quick Gestures
My Nest Home Hub kept on pausing and playing music spontaneously. The problem was fixed by turning off gestures. To do this follow the steps below.
Step 1: Open the Home app on your phone and click on the Nest Home Hub
Note: Your device might have a different name.
Step 2: Click the spinning gear on the top right to access the settings
Step 3: Click on Quick Gestures
Step 4: Turn off Quick Gestures
Now play music and see if this fixed the issue. If nothing changes, proceed to the next solution.
Solution 2: Reboot Nest Home Hub
If solution 1 doesn’t fix the problem. Rebooting the Nest Home Hub might do the trick.
To reboot the device, unplug it from the power cord and wait for at least 1 minute before reconnecting it.
Solution 3: Check the internet connection and reboot the router
Ask the Google Assistant questions to see if the internet is working properly. You can also test other devices on the same network to see if the internet is working.
If there’s a connection issue, rebooting the router might fix the problem.
Solution 4: Determine if someone in a different room is pausing music
Nest Home devices can be controlled by anyone who is connected to the same Wi-Fi network. This includes neighbours who share the same Wi-Fi network (I’m looking at you Canada, with your basement apartments). Hence, there may be a possibility that someone else is controlling your device. But I have to admit, it’s a funny way of pranking someone.
