When using your Android watch, you might have come across “complication data” in the permission settings of an app. At first glance, it’s hard to tell what it means or what effect this data can have on you as a user.
Complications are the small interchangeable widgets available on many watch faces. These widgets show information such as; step counts, weather, heart rate, battery percentage, compass, calendar, reminders, calculator, etc.
When you see complications on the permission settings of an app, it basically means Wear OS can allow a watch face to display data from that app in the form of a widget.
How to change complication widgets on a watch face
Different smartwatches may slightly vary on how you access widgets, but here’s how you do it on a Galaxy Watch 5.
Step 1: Press and hold on the watch face
Step 2: Click customize
Step 3: Swipe right to access complication widgets
Step 4: Click on the complication widget you’d like to change
Step 5: Select a new widget
